Volume 10 Issue 9 - September 1995 SET FREE! "Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. " (2 Timothy 2:9) First of all, I want to thank all of you who called, wrote, and visited my family during my incarceration. Your love, prayers, encouragement, and financial support has once again confirmed that Jesus truly loves His people through His people. I could literally feel the prayers of God's saints as I sat in my prison cell. My wife and children were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and help the Body of Christ supplied. Again, my heartfelt appreciation for every one of you who covered my family in my absence. As you could imagine, doing time behind bars is not always pleasant and, contrary to popular opinion, you don't always have a strong religious experience while you're there. Most of the time is spent in tedious monotony where psychological warfare by the system and the steady stream of smoke, cursing, lust, and blasphemy insure that any one with gray matter between their ears would not desire to remain nor ever come back to a place such as this. In spite of all that, I had to fight back the tears, as I was being released from my captivity. The Lord broke my heart afresh as He strategically placed me right in the enemy's camp. I found myself weeping once again over the condition of the depraved souls I was rubbing shoulders with. This fresh breaking rekindled a passion for lost souls and a hunger to give my life as a drink offering in the Master's service. While I was there, three men committed their lives to the Lord, many were witnessed to, and others were strengthened in their faith as the Lord used me to instruct them from His word. One of the most poignant moments transpired as I was witnessing to a Chicano gang member who was covered with tattoos. He asked me a powerful question that ultimately led to his conversion, "What kind of God do you serve that would allow you to come to a place like this?" The response the Lord gave me caused this young man to begin to cry openly in front of the other inmates. I said, "Don't you understand, Juan, maybe the Lord sent me here just for you. Juan, the Lord loves you and cares for your soul. My God allowed me to come here to deliver His message to you. Do you believe this?" Praise God, Juan did believe and tearfully opened his heart to receive the salvation of God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Empty Playgrounds, by Norma McCorvey Miss Norma McCorvey. As we were breaking bread and having a wonderful time of fellowship, Norma shared this anointed poem with me. To say that I was touched, impacted, and moved by this piece would be an understatement. I immediately asked Norma if I could share this with the folks on our mailing list. Obviously, she consented and gave her blessing. I pray as you read this, you will be assured that Norma is a new creature in Christ Jesus and that her conversion is genuine.
The good news for Norma and all of us is found in the precious promises of God's word. "They looked unto him, and were lightened: and there faces were not ashamed. " (Psalms 34:5) Please continue to pray for Norma that as she gazes upon the lover of her soul, the Lord Jesus Christ He alone will remove all the shame of her past and by His redeeming power enable her to redirect those things to advance His Kingdom. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift for one Miss Norma McCorvey. I Was A Stranger and You Took Me In "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world. " (James 1:27) Within the last month, Liz and I have opened our hearts and home to a precious young lady named Iris who is about to give birth to her first baby. Iris's background is one that is full of incest, abuse, drugs, and promiscuity. She has already had two miscarriages as the result of beatings by irresponsible young men. We first met Iris through a young man named Andy, whom we've been discipling. He invited her to come hear Kirsten Breedlove give her amazing testimony concerning the Lord's deliverance that set her free from the abortion industry. The Lord used this time to convince Iris not to abort her baby, but grant her child life. Soon after that, Iris and Andy came to the Chastity Rally we held last month. During the Rally, they both committed their lives to Christ and for the first time decided to do things God's way. The next day we took Iris in and started to nurture, train, and disciple her as a follower of Jesus. Since she has been with us, the Lord has truly honored her decision to do things His way and has showed Himself strong on her behalf. God's people have flooded her with love, encouragement, and gifts. She has experienced salvation, The Lord's provision, and just recently the Lord raised her mother up from the death bed of affliction as we laid hands on her and prayed the prayer of faith. Needless to say, this girl has become a Holy Ghost witnessing machine. She told her teachers and classmates on the first day of school, "I have lived in hell all of my life, but now I am on my way to heaven and I'm never going back. " With the addition of Iris and her child comes the increase of challenge for our entire family. Particularly, as we prepare for our sixth child to be born in November about Thanksgiving time. She has come to us with much need in every area of life. Please hold Iris and our family up in your prayers as we look to the Lord to meet those needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Through your faithful giving we are able to love the "Iris's" of the world not just in word and in tongue, but in deed and in truth according to l John 3:18. The Christian Leadership Institute "Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them." (Exodus 18 :21) "The desperate need in this hour is for righteous leadership marked by courage, vision, and Biblical ethics." - Randall Terry There is no doubt that America is in a crises of leadership. The Bible says: "When the righteous rule, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan." (Proverbs 29:2) Our land is literally dying for want of godly righteous leadership. Righteous leadership that begins with the church and then spreads to the civil, educational, and media realms as well. This blatant need cannot be over emphasized. To meet the demands of this need, men, like Randall Terry, George Grant, Howard Phillips and other National leaders have joined forces to launch the Christian Leadership Institute. The purpose of the CLI is to instill in men the vision, passion, and Biblical framework to be reformers and leaders in reclaiming America's "power bases"; and to help raise up "elders in the gates" who will rebuild America on the bedrock foundation of the Ten Commandments and Biblical principles. The three godly attributes the five day school will seek to impart in men are, courage, vision, and Biblical ethics. The church must have men of courage; men willing to lay down their lives for the Kingdom of God. Men unafraid of the contempt of of their heir contemporaries; men who don't seek the approval of those who despise righteousness; men who are willing to lay down their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor at the foot of the cross. The church must also have men of vision in this dark hour. A visionary is one who is able to see what is coming and then faithfully apply God's word to it, thereby making preparations to meet the challenges of the future. We need to understand where policies and laws will lead, where a philosophy will take a nation. A visionary has a God given ability to mobilize recruits with a vision of what should be, what must be. The key that unlocks all this is a visionary who understands the continuity of history. We will not see clearly where we are going if we do not know from whence we came. The CLI will focus on our stolen and abandoned Christian heritage, one that is grounded in a Biblical world view, so we can equip a new crop of godly leaders to reform our culture. America is desperate for leaders who think Biblically. The CLI is geared to teach Christian men on how to think Biblically concerning every issue facing our lives, the family, the church, business, our communities, and ultimately, our nation. Too often the Christian community has shied away from pressing the issue of who is Lord and what laws should reign. In many ways the Christian community has been lulled asleep by leaders who don't think Biblically. As a result, our "pastors" and "elder statesmen" have often run from conflict, controversy, and confrontation to embrace comfort, compromise, and cowardice. Obviously, this trend must end if America is to survive. I shared the purpose of this school, so you can pray for me. Randall Terry has invited me, along with 25 other National leaders to come evaluate the effectiveness of CLI. This is truly an honor to be involved with a group of godly men that will make a covenant that pledges their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to see America reformed or die trying. The difference between these two forms of government are clearly seen in that one recognizes God Almighty as the Sovereign of our Nation and not the people as defined by a Democracy. In light of this, pay close attention to the following quote by a Professor named Alexander Tyler who penned this over 200 years ago while America was still a British colony. "A Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a Democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back again into bondage. " Waco Abortion Workers "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. " (Isaiah 55:7) This is a holy call to all intercessors to pray consistently and fervently for the death merchants in the Waco area. I'm asking you to join me in a full court press of effectual prayer till the Lord either saves these individuals or removes them from harming his little image bearers. Pray for Thomas F. A letter calling them to repent of child-killing and come to the saving grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ their Lord and King.
