Volume 17 Issue 11 - November 2002 AMERICA’S REAL WAR By Elysse R. Barrett Currently, I’m involved in conducting a KLI in Waco for our homeschool co-op. I’ve emphasized greatly the battle for the souls of men, the lives of our children and the future of our nation. Lo and behold, I came across this article written by a young lady that captures verbatim the essence of the teaching. This article needs to go far and wide to challenge the "Christian youth" of America.America is at War. This war is more deadly than
any war she has ever been in; there are more lives at stake now than in all the wars ever
fought on American soil. In fact, there are more soldiers enlisted to serve in this war
than has ever been enlisted before. In this war there are no cannons, guns, or bullets,
but the weapons of this war are of the most fatal design and the issue of the war has
eternal ramifications. The enemy in this war does not even have a front line, but they are
unified under one banner. This war is not fought on foreign soil but on the college
campuses, in the statehouses and courtrooms, out in the communities, and right in the
hearts and homes of every American. This war is a battle for her mind and soul.
America’s real war is a culture war. It is a war over whether America will have a
godless or a God-honoring society. With this war we are answering the question of whom we
will serve: God or man. Many Christians either do not believe or will not admit that we are in a war. However, the reality of this war is seen at all points of the American culture. The fierceness of this war is being waged in the battles of right vs. wrong, Christianity vs. Atheism, Creation vs. Evolution, belief in Absolutes vs. Relativism, Christian vs. Secular Education, Home or Private vs. Public Social Education, Courtship vs. Dating, obedience to parents vs. disobedience and rebellion, and the myth of the Separation of Christianity from the State vs. the duty of the State to be Christian. These battles must first be resolved in the Church, for the Church is to be the leader in Society. It is the Church who should be providing answers to these issues, training its members, equipping its parents, and presenting a clearly defined worldview. Yet, a serious look at the generation being raised up in the Church today provides conclusive evidence that the future of the Church is rapidly being taken captive by the enemies of Christ. Recently released statistics from the Nehemiah
Institute PEERS tests demonstrates that in just one generation, most Christian students
will graduate from high school and begin their lives operating from a pagan worldview.
These results are further confirmed by other research conducted by the Barna Research
Group which found that only 9 percent of professing Christian teenagers believe in moral
absolutes. The Church, having rejected her duty of the
administration and application of God’s Word, has apostatized and chosen gods of gold
and pleasure. In families, parents having faltered in their duty to "train up their
children in the way they should go" have allowed their children, now America’s
youth and young adults, to be taught by the Philistines, associate with the Philistines,
and even marry the Philistines. Today we reap the consequences of our idolatry and
adultery. This Covenant was not broken because of the non-Christian’s influence on
our culture; it was broken because of the slow but sure compromises of the Christians. God
will not suffer long those who break Covenant with Him. How can we establish anew this dynamic Biblical understanding of youth? First, we must recognize God has called each of us to stand in the gap and to fulfill the role He has given us in this culture war. In order to do this, we each must surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, not just as our Savior nor as a Lord of our life, but as THE ONE AND ONLY LORD OF OUR LIFE. A LORD demands obedience, and in warfare a LORD directs and commands actions. The Biblical view of youth is far different from that offered by the world. Instead of an awkward, unproductive time, it is to be viewed as a time of diligent preparation and initial productivity. Youth should be a time of active preparation for your soon active participation in life as a responsible adult. The preparation must include training in the articulation and defense of their Christian faith, as well as its application to the whole of life. We must learn that the Bible is the authority in every area it addresses and it addresses every area of life. Logic, Apologetics, and Biblical Worldview Thinking are necessary ingredients in a young person’s education. It is through courses such as these that young people learn to captivate their thinking, bringing their thoughts in to the Obedience of Christ, thus acknowledging Him as LORD. Secondly, young people must be taught to use their talents for God. Most importantly, they need to cultivate them in a manner that advances Christ’s Kingdom and rebuilds our country. God commands each of us to use our talents faithfully, no matter how large or small they seem. It is not often those who have many talents or the most important talents that change the world, but rather those who use the talents they have to the greatest effect. Lastly, we must realize that God calls us to have a multi-generational vision, training our children and young people to be mighty warriors for God or else when the baton we carry is passed to the next generation, all our work will be for no gain. Reflect back to Psalms 127, verse 4 which states, "As arrows are in the hands of a mighty man, so are children of the youth." This clearly shows the requirement for youth to be under the authority of those placed over them in order to be fashioned into sharp and straight weapons of war. We are now faced with a choice and a challenge. The choice is whom you will serve. The challenge is taking your place in returning our country to a Christian nation and culture. Will you stand with Moses and declare to Kings that the LORD is your God? Will you put before Christian youth, the question of Joshua to choose the LORD as their God? Will you present them as a vision the model of Nehemiah, ready to fight against the evil doctrines of our day while rebuilding the fortresses of truth and righteousness? Or will you leave them without direction, subjecting them to the apathetic and pessimistic worldview of their contemporaries and surrendering the future of your country and your culture to Satan. The challenge has now been laid before you. You know what is expected of you and what is required of you. I have made the choice and accepted the challenge. Will you not do the same? It is your choice, your responsibility, your duty. The course of our nation, the rebuilding of our country is up to you! PLANNED PARENTHOOD AND WHAT THIS ARTICLE IS NOT ABOUT! Recently, Pam Smallwood, the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood of Central Texas, wrote a guest column in the Waco Tribune. The essence of the article was one long lament, complaint, and murmur against active Christian Pro-lifers who make her and her co-workers lives miserable. She cleverly starts the article with what the article is not about. It is not about the long illustrious history of Planned Parenthood in Waco. It is not about all the wonderful services they provide for the hurting masses. No! The article is about those crazy Christian Pro-lifers that make killing children unbearable. Though she didn’t use these exact words, it was certainly implied. In fact, we were told that this particular Planned Parenthood received a national award for providing their services under duress. If this is indeed true, it is a perverse compliment from hell to the few Christians who stand in the gap and make up the hedge for the city of Waco. In response, I wrote a guest column by the title above. Imagine my shock when our liberal newspaper actually published it. They did edit the contents and shortened its length, but to their credit, they still released it. This column is not about Planned Parenthood’s legacy of racism and genocide perpetrated by their founder, Margaret Sanger, against minorities. It’s not about her "Negro Project" by which she declared, "The most successful approach to the Negro is through religious appeal. We do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and the Minister is the man who can straighten out the idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." She called minorities "human weeds" and the "choking undergrowth" of "morons and imbeciles" that should be "segregated" and "sterilized." She promoted the eugenic philosophy that would "create a race of thoroughbreds" by encouraging "more from the fit and less from the unfit." She stated, "Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race." This article, however, is not about the fact that Planned Parenthood has never renounced, rejected, or even bothered to apologize for Margaret Sanger’s brutal, bloody, and racist agenda. Thus, this article is not about to question why Planned Parenthood is at Kate Ross (the center of the minority area in Waco) and not in Woodway. This column is not about the fact that Planned Parenthood, through their "safe sex" programs such as, "Nobody’s Fool," enables fornication, adultery, and homosexuality to spread like moral and spiritual cancer throughout America. This is an organization that is in the business of selling birth control, abortions, and treating STD’S. Since they have had the monopoly on such matters teen pregnancy, child molestation, and STD’S have skyrocketed. Demand creates supply, therefore they must entice our young to become sexually active in order to provide their "services" and then tax us to death to pay for it. So this article is not about the fact that their own previous president, Faye Wattleton, freely admitted that Planned Parenthood was not an organization that will promote abstinence. Obviously then, this article is not about what Planned Parenthood is really promoting. This column is not about the fact that the Planned Parenthood abortion industry has provided cover for pedophiles who abuse our children. Documentation has now emerged that reveals the abortion industry has been caught red-handed providing a safe haven for grown men who prey upon and sexually abuse our young girls. Life Dynamics, a Texas based Pro-life group, conducted a recent covert survey. A young woman who posed as a 13 year old child sought to use abortion to conceal her illicit sexual activity with a 22 year old man. She called over 800 Planned Parenthood and National Abortion Federation facilities across America. The results of this survey are absolutely appalling. The vast majority of these facilities agreed to conceal the crime even among those who acknowledged it was statutory rape. Some Planned Parenthood employees coached the caller on how to avoid detection, how to circumvent parental notification laws, and what to say or not to say when she came to the clinic. Many encouraged her to lie, conceal her age and the age of her predator, or to just give false names. But since this article is not about Planned Parenthood’s aiding and abetting those who rape our children with impunity, we will proceed to what this article is all about. Recently, Pam Smallwood, the executive director of Planned Parenthood, wrote a guest column entitled, "’Accost’ Too Mild a Word." After wading through her absurd claims of terroristic threats against Planned Parenthood, (with not one shred of concrete evidence presented, except, of course, her own words) one would have thought the article should be called "The Victimization and Whine of the Abortion Industry." In this article, Pam Smallwood attempted to portray Planned Parenthood as a modern day hero suffering through the day to day terroristic threats and acts of violence perpetrated by mean-spirited, Pro-life Christians in its efforts to provide women "health care"(read, kill children). By presenting Planned Parenthood employees as the victims of terrorism, Pam Smallwood deceptively sought to conceal the terrorism they commit against innocent children who are made in the image of God. When someone loses an argument morally, scientifically, and theologically, they can only resort to one other ruse to win-argument ad hominem (name-calling). Thus we have the abortion industry’s latest campaign to vilify active Pro-life Christians as terrorists. Pam was right on one account, however, terrorism, without question, is a reality today. One just has to ask the Twin Towers and the Pentagon to affirm that awful truth. But Pam needs to go one step further and ask the 3300 little baby boys and girls that are being targeted, tortured, and murdered every day in clinics just like her own Planned Parenthood abortion mill. The only difference is, Planned Parenthood’s domestic terrorists don’t fly airplanes and neither do they knock at the door of the mother’s womb. No! They just barge in and begin ripping off arms and legs of defenseless children. They then throw away these children like a piece of trash. If this is just inflammatory rhetoric and a lie, then I invite Planned Parenthood to sue me for libel and slander. When we show them the horrible carnage of what they do, they simply run to the media to whine that they are the victims of terrorism. They are being terrorized all right, but it is nothing more than a guilty, seared conscience that is in danger of reprobation. The abortion industry is doing all that it can, with the bias support of the media, to remove the focus from itself and the horrific slaughter it perpetrates upon innocent children in the womb. They must have a scapegoat to deflect their evil and active Pro-life Christians fit their bill. Regardless, the battle for the lives of unborn children is being won as gentle Christians live out their faith in the streets of their cities. One by one, abortion mills are closing. One by one, abortion industry employees are repenting of their sin and giving their lives to Jesus Christ. One by one, mothers are choosing life for their children, instead of choosing the culture of death advocated by the abortion industry. Planned Parenthood, as evidenced by Pam Smallwood’s whine is in the death throes of extinction. Planned Parenthood will go the way of every other oppressive, tyrannical system that has removed the personhood of humanity to enslave or exterminate them. May God hasten the day! May this plea for forgiveness spread far and wide by those who are entangled in the web of sin, child-killing, and immorality. For many years, I worked off duty at the abortion clinic in East Liberty, Pittsburgh, Pa. in the 80's and 90's. (I am the Sergeant pictured in Randall's book, Operation Rescue in the chapter "Who is the Enemy?") I had forgotten all these years of my duty there and what I did to enable women to kill their unborn children. To you as an organization, I am deeply sorry! To Randall Terry, Keith Tucci, and all the other Rescuers, again, from my heart I am truly sorry! I used to justify my existence there as upholding the laws of man. I turned deaf ears to the sidewalk counselors as they tried to explain about the Laws of God. My soul is in deep agony over my conduct during that time of my life. I feel that before I ask the One Living and True God for the Mercy that is from everlasting to everlasting, I first need to ask those of you whose work for Jesus I made difficult while I imposed man's law. I feel right now that I am no better than the Commandants of the Nazi Death Camps or of Judas when he caused such a Great Teacher to die for blood money. As I now look back, all I was paid was indeed, blood money. As I go through the Dark Night of the Soul, I think of the thousand deaths that I enabled or allowed. I wonder who they might have been or what they might have done to rid this world of its sin and strife? Please take a moment and ask those who knew of my God-less times to pray for my soul and most importantly, to please forgive me! Without any laws being passed to ban abortion, clearly the gates of hell are not prevailing against God’s minute, obedient Church. This battle is drawing to a close and abortion will go the way of every other tyrannical, murderous, and oppressive system. At some point, America will have to come to grips with our complicity and complacency concerning this grave evil against our own defenseless children. Many will be reminded of this horrendous sin against God and their brutal crime against their own nameless sons and daughters. Thus this deep, festering wound that has polluted and defiled our beloved land must be adequately cared for. We must not find ourselves in a position that the prophet Jeremiah warned against, "They have also healed the wound of my people slightly."Rachel’s Park Memorial is specifically designed to deal with the deadly wound abortion has afflicted against our children, the family, the Church, our government, and our culture.
