"Thus says the Lord: Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit." (Jeremiah 17:5-8)

Just recently an e-mail was sent to me that was cause for great alarm concerning our Christian progeny in America. The message centered on a column written by Brannon S. Howse. Howse examined the PEERS test put forth by the Nehemiah Institute, which annually grades the worldview of thousands of adults and school children. According to Howse, "Results from each category are classified into one of four major worldview philosophies: Christian Theism, Moderate Christian, Secular Humanism, and Socialism." Howse’s findings in conducting these surveys with Christian young people are staggering.

Howse said, "Christian students attending public schools now regularly score in the lower half of secular humanism, headed toward a socialistic worldview. Students in typical Christian Schools score as secular humanists." Based upon projections using the decline rate from Christian students, the church will have lost her posterity to hard-core humanism between 2014-2018.

It would appear from this survey that humanism has become king of the mountain in the battle for worldviews in America. Perhaps this give us needed insight as to why America is set adrift on a sea of moral relativism. Perhaps this survey reveals why America is drowning in an ocean of blood and perversion. Perhaps this pathetic report unveils why the Church in America and our families seem incapable of contending for the faith in the midst of this crooked and perverse nation. Perhaps this documentation accounts for our churches being inundated with politically correct, ear tickling, and seeker friendly preaching.

Sadly, these are also the churches that are growing in leaps and bounds. Meanwhile, true men of God who hold fast to the Scriptures and put difference between the clean and unclean, holy and profane are routinely regulated to obscurity, marginilization, and isolation. Typically, churches who take a public stand on moral issues and hold our nation accountable to the infallible, inerrant, and inspired word of God are reduced to small congregations and meager finances. The message to future ministers couldn’t be clearer, "If you want to be ‘successful’ in the Church in America make sure you don’t stand in the counsel of the Lord to turn people from their wicked ways or the evil of their doings (Jeremiah 23:22)."

This disturbing survey obviously points out the failure of the Christian family as well. It was the Christian family that once served as the foundation for our Christian Republic, but recently have become nurseries for materialism. Our children are given over to humanistic indoctrination centers (public schools) and are routinely sacrificed upon the altars of Mammon. Historically, it was the family that educated our young with the knowledge of God and therefore developed a clear understanding of the sinful nature of man. It was the home where children first learned the lessons of love and discipline, rights and responsibilities to train them to be good Christians and therefore good citizens. Our families were the catalysts that preserved and passed on a multi-generational vision that served to strengthen the Christian character of our nation. The very character that is absolutely essential to preserve the gift of freedom.

One can only surmise the toll that will be exacted upon us if this godless trend continues. One can only cringe, if the church continues to define compromise as success. One can only shudder if our families refuse to return to be the foundation of American society. One can only tremble for the future as the religion of humanism usurps and seeks to replace the true religion of the Triune God in the thinking of our Christian students.

Brothers and sisters, humanism presents itself as the first clear and present danger. This insidious enemy called secular humanism must be countered by wresting our children back from the beast and reorient them once again to a Biblical worldview. We must awaken to the harsh reality that humanism has infested our schools, corrupted our politics, and mercilessly rules our media. It masquerades as a benevolent neutral religion all the while it continues to march on, abolishing every vestige of the Christian faith from the public life of our nation. We must remember it was humanism, the religion of man, that vanquished the Garden of Eden and turned this world into a howling wilderness of sin, sickness, violence, perversion, and death. This is its ignoble history and the horrific fruit it bears. This worldview has found a safe haven in the brain matter of our Christian young people. If not remedied by a Biblical worldview, it will be Christians marching in goose step with the enemies of the cross into the brave new world of hell on earth.

Am I overstating this premise? Consider this quote by Josef Goebbels, one of Hitler’s henchman, "Everyone here can save himself in his own fashion. To educate the young people into religious ways may perhaps be the task of the Church, but to educate the young in politics is very much our affair....The youth belong to us and we will yield them to no one. And the denominational press is equally superfluous...For the Churches there is only one solution, which will ensure peace; Back into the sacristy. Let the Churches serve God; we serve the People."

According to Conway, in his Nazi Persecution, this pursuit of capturing the minds of the German young people and filling their heads with Nazi propaganda contributed to the German Church’s passive compliance to Hitler’s reign of terror. "Many of them (the clergy) were so deeply shocked by the tumultuous course of events in the first year of Nazi rule that their only wish was to withdraw from political involvement of any sort. Both their sense of loyalty to established power and their theological leanings, strongly influenced by the Pietistic tradition, inclined them towards a purely "spiritual" ministry, concerned only with individualistic salvation and ethics, and a readiness to obey the government’s orders under all circumstances. On that account they were prepared to accept the Nazi dictum that ‘politics do not belong in the Church.’"

The second clear and present danger is the privatization of the Christian faith. Christians in America are following the same tragic course dictated by Goebbels. The official religion of humanism in America demands our children’s minds, while the church can be content with their bodies sitting in our culturally irrelevant pews. American Christianity has no problem going back and staying within the safe confines of our Churches in order to preserve an awkward peace that sacrifices our children on the altars of humanism. Personal salvation is our only concern. Thus we create with our own little pietistic minds Christian ghettos that inadvertently bolster the religion of humanism.

The Church seems content to limit the Christian faith to just a passive belief system. Thus for most Christians in America the faith of our fathers has been reduced to emotional Sunday entertainment services and a weekday devotional "quiet time." Gone are the days where Christians spiritually and intellectual fought, struggled, and died to advance Christian culture and Christian civilization. It was this pursuit of dedicated Christians of the past that gave rise to the unprecedented blessings of Western civilization. We are surviving off of the fumes of their legacy. Today’s Christians either are ignorant of this dilemma or live in a state of denial concerning this clear and present danger.

Yes, our churches are filled with warm bodies, many sing songs to Jesus, and people throng the altars with sincere prayer, but in our thinking and in our lifestyles, Christians in America for the most part are still functional pagans. We’ve lost a Biblical worldview. Our godly history has been rewritten or revised to further support the onslaught of secular humanism. In other words, instead of obeying the comprehensive life system called the Gospel of the Kingdom, many within our ranks are fragmented in their faith. When they go to school or the work place they remove their heart of Christian revelation and put it in the lower drawer. When they come to Church, they leave their minds in the foyer. Therefore, our collective light is being hid under the basket of a church building.

Jesus warned in Matthew 6:23, But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness." This Scripture sums up much of the problem that we are struggling with today. Our children’s eyes no longer see their world through the grid of God’s word. Their minds have been captured by an enemy. Therefore their eye is bad. The consequence of this blinded condition is our Christian posterity are living their lives according to the darkness of secular humanism. Now if this is the light that our Christian children are walking in and with much of our Christian churches in tow then according to Jesus how great is the darkness in the world. The blind are leading the blind and America is falling into a ditch. 

Jeremiah warned in our opening Scripture to trust in man or to put faith in humanism is a folly that consigns the participants to a parched and salted land. The blindness is so intense that the person or people group can’t even notice when goodness is staring them in the face. They won’t be capable of perceiving goodness when it comes. Perhaps this accounts for the current ethos in America that gleefully calls good, evil and evil, good (Isaiah 5:20). At any rate, the burning question before you and I is, "Do we desire this to be the legacy we bequeath to future generations?" I pray there is a deafening NO that resounds throughout the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Parents, rescue your children from the clutches of humanism. Give your life to ensure your children love the Lord your God with all their hearts, souls, minds, strength. Make sure they are rooted in a Biblical worldview and are reconnected to America’s godly heritage and history. Wrest them back from the humanistic temples in our government sponsored public schools. The word of God in Deuteronomy 32:46,47 declares, "Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe—all the words of this law. For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess."

Dear parent, did you catch what God’s word exhorts? We are to set our hearts on God’s word to develop a complete life system firmly rooted in a Biblical worldview. We are then to pass on to our posterity a multi-generational vision of the same. God says this pursuit will not be done in vain. He says, "This is your life!" In other words, the sum total of our lives is not our jobs, money, fame, fortune, power, and all the other glitter that captivates our time and attention in America. Our life, according to God, consists of diligently passing to our children a godly legacy. How can this be accomplished when the enemies of the cross have captured the minds of our arrows with our silent consent? Thus using our own children to rebel against the commandments of God?

I will leave you with Jeremiah’s precious promise of the blessing of God. If we would return to complete faith, trust, and hope in the Lord. Our individual lives, our families, our churches, and our communities currently suffering in the howling wilderness of humanism can be turned into a watered garden once again. We can be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever we do shall prosper (Psalm 1:3). Our only challenge is, we will muster the courage, the determination by God’s grace to meet the conditions as set forth in God’s word? Again, I pray there there will be a deafening YES in Jesus’ Holy Name!

Humanism is a deadly enemy to Christianity. It is the second oldest religion established at the same Garden of Eden which was the cradle of true faith. The lie of humanism was spawned by an Enemy who seduced our first parents with the enticing notion that man apart from God can determine good and evil for himself. Thus man becomes a god and law unto himself. Man has eaten this poison and now bears its deadly fruit.  -Rusty

"To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities." (Acts 3:26)

Perhaps God through calamity is blessing America to turn us from our iniquities and the evil of our doings.

America the Beautiful, or so you used to be. Land of the Pilgrims' pride; I'm glad they'll never see. Babies piled in dumpsters, Abortion on demand, Oh, sweet land of liberty, your house is on the sand.

Our children wander aimlessly poisoned by cocaine, Choosing to indulge their lusts, when God has said abstain. From sea to shining sea, our Nation turns away From the teaching of God's love and a need to always pray. So many worldly preachers tell lies about our Rock, Saying God is going broke so they can fleece the flock. We've kept God in our temples, how callous we have grown. When earth is but His footstool, and Heaven is His throne.

We've voted in a government that's rotting at the core, Appointing Godless Judges who throw reason out the door, Too soft to place a killer in a well deserved tomb, But brave enough to kill a baby before he leaves the womb. You think that God's not angry, that our land's a moral slum? How much longer will He wait before His judgment comes?

How are we to face our God, from Whom we cannot hide? What then is left for us to do, but stem this evil tide? If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray; Seek His holy face and mend our evil way: Then God will hear from Heaven and forgive us of our sins, He'll heal our sickly land and those who live within. But, America the Beautiful, if you don't then you will see, A sad but Holy God withdraw His hand from Thee.

Operation Save America is calling for a National Memorial Service at the "Gates of Hell" on Saturday, May 25th, 2002. We are calling for the Church in each participating city to conduct an official Memorial Day Service in front of their local abortion mill. The following outline will give you the esence of the message and an official Order of Service.

Most of the men who fought and died for this nation, did so with the sacred intent of passing on a heritage of freedom to their posterity, the unborn. We, in betrayal to their intent, now take that freedom to slay the unborn. This is a national disgrace that mocks, scorns, and betrays the blood of the patriots who died in freedom's cause. Let us as Christian men, women, patriots, and veterans truly honor those who died for our country. Let us also publicly renounce, reject, and refute those who have perverted freedom to satisfy their blood lust.
