ROE VS. WADE MEMORIAL SERVICE

"Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report."

This Message was preached at the Roe vs. Wade Memorial Service on January 22nd, 2003 in Waco, TX by Yours Truly.

On Jan. 22nd, 1973, an enemy whom the Bible describes as a liar and the Father of all Lies and a murderer from the beginning, slithered his way into an honored position on the highest court of our beloved land. For thirty long years, his evil Anti-Christ, and anti-life philosophy has been codified into law. Since then, death has enlarged itself against our defenseless babies and has devoured 1/3rd of an entire generation.

It was on this dark day that our nation officially betrayed the covenant established by our Founding Fathers, a covenant that proclaimed, "We hold these truths to be self-evident. That all men are created equal and they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." It was a cherished covenant that unashamedly confessed that we were "One Nation Under God" and "In God We Trust."

The infamous Roe vs. Wade annulled that covenant and established an entirely different covenant. It is a pact that Isaiah describes as a covenant of death. It is this covenant that is serving to destroy the righteous foundations upon which we stand. It mocks our past, defiles our present, and invokes God’s judgment upon our future.

It also denies what we fought against to end in World War Two, the holocaust in Germany. Dr. Leo Alexander, who studied the Nuremberg trials, defines for us the meaning of Nazism and Fascism that established the covenant of death in Europe. He explains Nazism as when a nation, government or a culture chooses death to solve their economic and moral problems. Abortion has become the solution to solve our problems of sexual immorality that is running rampant in our nation. We simply murder our babies to vainly cover our sins of fornication and adultery. Shall not God visit a nation like this?

We are here today to acknowledge these truths and to beseech God to annul this covenant with death and to beg God to remember mercy in the midst of His judgment. We are here to repent of our national hatred of God. For the Scriptures declare that those that hate God’s wisdom, love death (Proverbs 8:36). We are here today to seek God and humbly ask Him to restore us once again to the covenant of life that testifies of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His great Kingdom amongst men.

We are also here to memorialize and mourn the loss of this little one. This little child, though dead, still speaks. He has volumes for us to learn and a lot he would have us remember. We are here at City Hall, the seat of civil government in Waco, TX. We are not here by accident, but by design. This little one has a message to give our civil officials in the United States of America.

Civil Government was created by God and established for the express purpose to protect life and to stop the shedding of innocent blood. Abortion is a major violation of that sacred trust. It denies the very purpose and the very reason why civil government exists. Civil Government is called of God to be a terror against evildoers and to protect those who do good. Under the tyranny of Roe vs. Wade, civil government protects those who rip little babies apart, while punishing those who seek to peaceably intervene to save their precious lives. The sword that God has given civil government in America has been perverted, misapplied, and misappropriated and they now find themselves in the precarious position of defending the indefensible.

I believe this child also has a message for the Church of Jesus Christ. He would remind us of God’s commands when oppression raises its ugly head to target a people for destruction. We are called of God to plead the cause of the fatherless to win it (Jeremiah 5:28). We are to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:39). We are to be our brother’s keeper (Genesis 4:9). We are to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8,9). We are to rescue those unjustly sentenced to death (Proverbs 24:11,12). We are to reprove the oppressors and defend the cause of the fatherless (Isaiah 1:10-17). We are to deliver the poor and needy and rid them from the hand of the wicked (Psalms 82:4). We are to obey Micah 6:8, which declares, "He has shown you O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"

If we who name the Name of Christ will repent of our complicity and complacency with abortion, rebuke the oppressors who harm these little ones, and intervene to peaceably save their lives, God promises that though our sins were as scarlet they shall become white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool (Isaiah 1:18). For the Scriptures declare in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their land."

Brother and sisters, I’ll close with this statement by Flip Benham,

"The gates of hell can prevail against the President, the Congress, the Supreme Court, the Republican Party, and the Democratic Party, but they can never prevail against the Church of Jesus Christ. They never have and they never will! Abortion will end, when the Church of Jesus Christ decides it will end, and not one second sooner!"

Would you join with me in prayer? Lord, we are not here to express worldly sorrow concerning the American holocaust called abortion, but godly sorrow that leads to genuine repentance. We want to clear ourselves of this evil matter and to seek justice for the little ones. God we beg of you to annul this covenant of death and turn the fathers’ hearts back to our children and heal our land. Overturn Roe vs. Wade and establish the sword in righteousness once again. Help us, your people, to defend the defenseless, to be a voice for the voiceless, and to bring the right choice to the choice less. The choice of life and not death, the choice of blessing, and not cursing in Jesus’ Holy Name!

PRESS RELEASE, ATTENTION:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Just imagine a death toll the same as that of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, every day and twice on Sunday, all year long for 30 years. Now you have a grasp of the death toll of little American citizens since the legalization of abortion on Jan. 22, 1973.

On Wednesday, January 22nd, 2003, the Church of Jesus Christ in Central Texas is planning a number of events to repent of the infamous U.S. Supreme Court decision that Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas describes as a national "covenant with death." "For 30 years, millions of innocent children made in the image of God have been reduced to a piece of trash to be thrown away by our society. This does not bode well for the current state or the future of our nation. Our collective soul, obviously, has become sick. Our hearts have become hardened against the plight of our own children. Thanks to the Roe vs. Wade decision and the culture of death it has spawned," Rev. Thomas said.

The events will begin at 9 a.m. at the Waco City Hall, where Christians will be called on to renew their commitment to God and to repent of their passive acquiescence to abortion. "We have to understand that we who name the Name of Christ have failed. We have failed to love our neighbor as ourselves. We have failed to be our brother’s keeper. We have failed to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves and we have failed to rescue those unjustly sentenced to death. Quite honestly, we have been passive, at a time that demands brokenness, tears, and even outrage when it comes to the slaughter of the innocent.

"Abortion is a battle between two worldviews. Christians believe human life is sacred, it is a gift of God, and therefore needs to be protected by law and welcomed into life," he said. "The other side believes in a philosophy called the ‘quality of life.’ This occurs when autonomous men and women who are older and stronger arbitrarily decide whether the weaker and younger can live based simply upon whether they want them or not. This philosophy should never have been codified into law."

At 10 a.m. there will be a funeral procession from City Hall to Rachel's Park Memorial, 4720 N. 19th St., which features a Tomb of the Unknown Baby. There, an aborted child will be memorialized, and interred as a representative of the millions of lives lost since 1973. "The child that is going to be buried there is going to represent all the children that we know were once conceived, were safe in their mothers' womb, and through this holocaust of abortion their life and all its promise was cruelly taken from them," he said.

Afterwards the service will continue at the sanctuary of Church on the Rock, where American Family Association, President Tim Wildmon, will be the keynote speaker for a national broadcast. Thus giving the Waco locality a national platform this year.

LEADERSHIP MEETING, CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA

I just returned from North Carolina. Operation Rescue leaders from around the nation came together to seek the Lord for a glorious weekend. Testimonies abounded to inspire, encourage, and exhort one another to stay close to Jesus, purify our hearts, and remain faithful in the battle. Many topics were covered, such as, Judgment Begins in the House of God, A Case Study of the American Church, The NOW vs. Scheidler/Operation Rescue case, and The Battle Rages-Homosexuality, Islam, and Abortion. (They are the three different colored gloves of the same demonic fist that is striking America).

On Saturday, February 1st, all the Rescue leaders went to the local abortion mill in Charlotte. It was the firstfruits that prayerfully will prepare the way of the Lord for our national event there in July. Judging by the police presence, which was quite large, one would have thought some very dangerous individuals were in town. While there, different men of God preached and warned our nation that the sin of shedding innocent blood demands an accounting. God will not be mocked. What this nation has sowed, we shall surely reap. As soon as the messages ended, we received word that the Columbia Space Shuttle disintegrated over Texas. A friend of mine in Dallas, by the name of Rodger Goodwin, who personally witnessed this tragedy gave this illuminating commentary that ties directly to what we experienced in North Carolina.

"That's when the irony really set in. The place we witnessed this tragedy in the sky was in front of the oldest abortion ‘mill’ in Texas where thousands of innocent people have literally been ripped apart, much like the seven astronauts were. The biggest difference was that these are killed every day, by choice, not by accident.

I knew that there would be local, national and global media attention due to this horrific event and the precious loss of life that occurred in the skies above North and East Texas, and rightfully so. A life being lost is a terrible thing. The irony is that I also knew that there would be absolutely no media attention and hardly a thought from the public, about the 23 lives scheduled to be torn apart at 2921 Fairmount, Dallas, TX, on a beautiful Saturday morning.

As I watched the news coverage and saw the disintegration of the shuttle scattered across hundreds of miles I was dumbstruck. Then, the media showed us the morbid picture of one of the astronaut's helmets with the face shield blown out. And finally, the details of the body parts that had been located...a torso, a leg, etc. Right in front of me, in this "clinic" the exact same thing was taking place. Body parts were being hewn into a container after being torn apart by a strong (wind) vacuum.

There is no mourning for these. There is no public outrage or dismay. There is no lowering the flag. There is no grieving by family members. There is no reading of Isaiah by the President. There is no talk at work, church or Sunday School. There are no memorial services scheduled to give the dead a proper burial. These lives are not considered valuable to us. These Image Bearers are not worthy of our attention."

This is now the second time that America has experienced strange weather as body parts are falling from the skies upon our heads. How long will we remain in willful ignorance? How long will the Church refuse to connect the dots? How much of a bigger hammer is the Lord going to send against us, if we continue to live in a state of denial?

Brothers and Sisters, the Church must move from just providing mourning ministries that console the bereaved to become prophetic ministries that warn the wicked and intervene to give God a reason to show mercy in the midst of His judgment. Always remember this truth, God has more disaster than the American Federal Government has relief.
