In close to twenty years of fighting the battle for men’s souls, the lives of children, and the future of our nation, the Call to Washington DC was special on many counts. Without a Church sponsor, a local contact, limited resources, and trying to coordinate this event long distance, our Lord did exceedingly, abundantly, above all we could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). To God be the glory!

Initially, the Call to Washington DC was scheduled for July 5th and 6th. The Lord, however, had a different time table in mind. The Senate would not be in session to lobby, so we were forced to change the dates to July 10th and 11th. Little did we know through the frustration and added expense that God’s providence was at work. We were not aware that the day we sent the lobby teams to the Senate to pass out the “Hate Crimes” packet that this was the day Ted Kennedy would pull a slick political maneuver. He shrewdly attached the “Hate Crimes” legislation as a rider to the Defense Appropriation bill.

The next day, July 11th, while we were conducting our press conference, we were also not aware that a black pastor would take out a full page in USA today. Pastor Harry Jackson, from the Hope Connection, warned our nation of the dangers associated with tyrannical SB 1105. His article and our message that touted the same concerns strategically hit our nation on the same day. Coincidence? We think not!

We had no idea as well that the People for the American Way, a God-hating organization, would record the press conference and spread it far and wide to leftist organizations. Other groups came, such as, Muslims and a lesbian, to record and take pictures of Christians that were standing for our Lord, righteousness, and truth. The “powers that be” were put on notice that there was another King, one called Jesus, and that His word is binding upon all people, at all times, and in every nation.

The cherry on the top came the next day, July 12. As we were planning our ways, God was directing our paths. None of us were aware that the Senate was planning to invoke demons into their midst by inviting a Hindu Priest to offer the Senate prayer. We were so busy executing the ministry in Washington DC; it was not until the end that it came to our attention.

The precious Pavkovic family had previously decided to stay an extra day. Though they thought it would be a day to rest, God had a different plan in mind. Michael Marcavage called and told them of the abominable prayer that was to be offered up in the Senate the next day. Ante called Flip Benham and discussed the possibilities. That fateful night, it was decided that if no Senator had the moral courage to rebuke this insanity, it was left to Ante to lift high the name of the true and living God. Ante paused, waited, and none stood for the One who is the way, truth, and life. In the perfect timing of the Lord, the Hindu Priest went to open his mouth to pray and the entire Senate chamber heard instead the name that is above all names, LORD JESUS CHRIST!!!

The affect was powerful. Brother Flip Benham, National Director of Operation Save America, recorded the rest of the account of Ante’s declarations, “Lord Jesus, forgive us Father for allowing the prayer of the wicked which is an abomination in Your sight. The gavel was sounded by Senator Casey who commanded, ‘The Sergeant at arms will restore order in the Senate. The Sergeant at arms will restore order in the chamber.’

As Ante was being restrained he quoted Psalm 33:12, ‘Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord’ and the 1st Commandment, ‘Thou shalt have no other gods before me.’ And then closed with, ‘You are the One true living God.’

Next his wife Kathy stood and quoted John 14:6, ‘Jesus is the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.’ She was also restrained by the Sergeant at arms and then their daughter Christen began pleading to God saying, ‘Father, forgive us for betraying your Son Jesus.’ She was also arrested.

This family became a powerful witness and a prophetic voice for all of us, including the arresting officers and booking officers at the jail. All of the police officers commented on what a fine family this was. Our God in heaven is rejoicing!”

As a result of this initial call, God has set in motion a path we are duty bound to follow. By God’s grace, we intend to follow up on what was accomplished and to pursue wherever the Lord leads. The following is the message I sent to all the leaders that helped make this event so special. In this message, you will find a three-fold response and opportunity set before us. My only prayer is the next time we go back to Washington DC, there will be a massive determination by God’s people to show up as well. This is no time to be on the sidelines pretending this threat and danger will go away of its own accord. No! It will take blood, sweat, and tears to push back the threat of tyranny and to break the yoke of oppression. Perhaps, as we work together, the Lord would be pleased to strike a blow for freedom that America has not experienced for decades. His will be done!

The Lord richly bless you! I want to thank you from the depths of my heart for all that you contributed in Washington DC. I don't believe we could have scripted this any better. Your example, leadership, and commitment to our Lord, I know has inspired many with hope and courage. We have much to be grateful for and yet we must be vigilant to follow the path the Lord has set for us.

In discerning what has transpired, I believe the Lord has created a three-fold front for us to pursue. First, we must deal with the opportunity concerning the court trial that brother Ante established by bravely standing in the Senate and proclaiming "thou shalt have no other gods before me." In my discussions with Ante, we decided to use this trial not just to defend him and his precious family, but to defend our godly legacy and America's Christian history. I've talked with Brother Bill Federer, an excellent Christian historian, and he committed to contact Dave Barton from Wallbuilders and to head up our team of expert witnesses. I'll give you more details on this as time progresses.

Secondly, it is clear the enemies of the cross are wickedly shrewd. In God's providence, the day we were there handing out the "Hate Crimes" packet as Ted Kennedy attached the "Hate Crimes" legislation to the Defense Appropriation budget. Politically, it was a brilliant move as it places our President between a rock and a hard place. Prayerfully, he will send it back, but if not, I believe we need to arrange a time to go back if they pass this tyrannical bill to burn it, prophetically denounce it, and then call a press conference to preach every word in the Bible that tells God's truth about homosexuality.

Lastly, our contact in Congress is working on setting up a meeting with the Department of Justice. Michael Marcavage and I are working together to compile all the evidence that we need to blow the lid off of the so-called "training" that is taking place through the "Community Relations" department.

It is important that we stay in contact and continue to set our faces like flint towards what our Lord has set before us. We need to guard our hearts from allowing the enemy of our souls to enter the midst of us and tempt us with jealousy, envy, and position seeking as we move forward. Most of us have been in this battle for a long time, and have learned not to give Satan place. Now more than ever we need to be vigilant without, but also within our own ranks.

I love each and every one of you men and consider a great honor to run this race and fight this battle with you. May God receive all the glory as we pour out our lives in His service.”

Media Welcome and Introduction of Speakers

I want to extend a heartfelt welcome to all the media represented here today. I want to personally thank you for taking the time to cover this press conference. Our coming together here to publicly discuss the burning issues of the day, I believe, carries great significance for our future and hope as a people. I believe we are literally at a point in our history that will determine whether or not America’s experiment with liberty will survive. We are at a juncture in our national discourse that will ascertain whether or not, freedom of speech and freedom of religion will continue in the home of the brave and the land of the free. We are at a crossroad that will decide if we will faithfully pass on a heritage of freedom that is honored by our posterity or will we pass to our posterity the chains of tyranny that they will someday terribly regret?

There has been a disturbing, dangerous trend that has slowly but surely seeped into our nation like a spiritual and moral cancer. This dangerous trend has grown to the point that it has corrupted the American culture and now seeks to utilize our civil government to criminalize and remove the freedoms of Bible-believing Christians. This is not empty rhetoric stated to create hype or add to the social unrest that already exists in our divided nation.

The evidence of this claim mounts with each passing day. In fact, we have a treatise called the “Hate Crimes” Information Packet that documents these claims (Pass them out to the media.) It is a brief compilation that shows in almost every aspect of American life, homosexuality is being exalted, honored, and protected, while Christianity is being marginalized, punished, and persecuted.

The men I have the privilege to introduce to you today carry in their lives the scars of this tragic reality. Some of them have been targeted, arrested, and treated as criminals for simply being Christians at homosexual events, such as “Gay Pride Parades.”

Our first speaker is Michael Marcavage, director of Repent America. He was a part of the “Philadelphia 11.” These brave Christians were the first in America to be charged with a so-called “Hate Crime.” They faced up to 47 years in prison for the “crime” of preaching the Gospel that has the power to save men’s souls at a Philadelphia “Gay Pride” Parade. Thankfully, the case had no merit and fell apart, but it demonstrates how far we have fallen as a nation. After Michael, you were hear from Rev. Johnny Hunter from LEARN and Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson from BOND. Lastly, I will come back to give closing remarks. Michael would you please come and address the media.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

For decades, America has distanced herself from the God of her fathers, the Biblical principles that made us great, and the Christian faith that has sustained us through dark and difficult days in our nation’s history. This betrayal against Heaven has taken its toll upon our beloved land. For the most part, our country neglects our godly heritage since the Supreme Court officially decreed in the 1960s that God’s services will no longer be required in our public life. The Court of that day arrogantly demanded that God get out of our government, vacate our schools, and stay away from our children. Thus the Bible, prayer, and the Ten Commandments were supplanted by metal detectors, police officers, and condoms in school colors. God indeed left and every form of evil, bloodshed, and perversion has replaced Him

The result of removing God from our public life has brought the nation to a two-fold crisis. First, we struggle with moral rot from within and secondly, we are in danger from the threat of terror without. Yes, I dare state that there is a direct connection between the sins and crimes of abortion and the sodomite agenda, and the threat of Islamic terrorism. Abortion and homosexual, sodomy are the twin root of the problem, while Islam is merely a fruit of the problem.

America is refusing to connect these dots, however, and we are living in a major state of denial. Needless to say, it is not good to be a citizen of this wretched state. As a result, we are failing to honor our past, respect our present and we are clearly in the process of squandering our future. Our systems are being broken and our moral compass as nation no longer points true north. It appears we are going the way of every other empire that foolishly shook their puny fist in the face of a Holy God!

If one takes the time to look at our culture today, one finds good has become evil and evil has magically become good. Truth has become hate to those who hate the truth. Lies, deception, and moral corruption have become the status quo. Thus for a young person to be a rebel today, he must live a righteous, holy, and pure life.

As our nation continues down this primrose path to destruction, we have now entered another phase in our disintegration as a people. In times past, it was the abortion industry and the sodomite agenda that spun to the media that Christians who oppose these barbaric acts were “Hate Groups.” This lie has been told so often that it now appears to have become truth, even to our own government.

As the American government continues to act upon these lies, defend the indefensible, codify evil into law, and turn moral wrongs into civil rights, they find themselves in the awkward position of punishing Bible-believing Christians. This is why the current “Hate Crimes” legislation under consideration in the Senate should be renamed the “Criminalization of Christianity Act.” Under the guise of protecting the immoral, unnatural, and ungodly lifestyle of homosexuals, our government is forced to censor the freedoms of speech and religion of Christians.

It was Thomas Jefferson who stated, “The legislative powers of government reach to actions only, not to opinions.” Civil government is due our prayers, taxes, tribute, and submission to lawful authority. They are not due, however, our faith, consciences, or thoughts. No government official has the authority to determine our beliefs, regulate our faith, or punish our thoughts. We have come to Washington DC to appeal to our government to back off, stand down, and return to their lawful jurisdictions. Get out of our churches, quit policing our thoughts, and stop trying to sear our consciences by their persistence of framing mischief by law. This is where every liberty-loving Christian should stand, and America should do no less!!!”
