Today, the Thomas Nation had the honor to serve King Jesus Ministries in New Orleans, LA. This active church was one of the many churches that set aside this Sunday to deal ruthlessly with our personal, family, church, governmental, and societal sins. Keenly aware that the judgment of the Lord begins with the house of God, we gathered at the altar of the Lord following the pattern of the prophet Daniel as He prayed, "We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments (Daniel 9:5)."
To prepare the church for honest inspection and to seek to meet the conditions required by God to intervene in our nation, Pastor Dale Sochia granted me the privilege to help prepare the way of the Lord. The following is the message preached before we came to the altar of God to humble ourselves, confess our sins, and prayed for the healing of our bloodstained, perverted land. If you find any merit, please pass it on in your sphere of influence. Thanks!

Call2Fall Message, New Orleans, July 4th, 2010
Early in his term as president, Obama went on his world "apology tour" proudly assuring other nations, especially Muslim nations, that America is "not a Christian nation." Tragically, he is not a lone voice in this historically treacherous statement. Many on the political left have sought for decades to distance America from the faith of our Fathers and the Biblical principles that served our nation so well in times past.
Woodrow Wilson would be one president that would not agree with this current mentality. This is in spite of the fact that Mr. Wilson was one of America's worst presidents we ever elected to office. In fact, Mr. Wilson was a "progressive leader" who is partially responsible for paving the way to establish a regime like the Obama administration that we suffer with today. But in the case of this outstanding quote, he got it absolutely right. He stated:
A nation which does not remember what it was yesterday, does not know what it is today, nor what it is trying to do. We are trying to do a futile thing if we do not know where we came from or what we have been about... America was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness which are derived from the revelations of Holy Scripture.
What can we glean from Woodrow Wilson's quote? If we don't know where we've been, we cannot possibly know where we are going or for that matter, we won't know what to do once we get there. Without understanding history, His-Story, God's providential plan and will through the eons of time and through His covenant people, man loses his vision and will as a dreadful result forfeit his destiny. Without a clear understanding of our godly legacy, there is no reliable rudder to steer the great ship called America.
History is one of two lights that can assist man as we seek to navigate through the darkness, traps, and pitfalls that abound in this world. Patrick Henry in his famous "Give me liberty or give me death" speech affirms this truth, "I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging the future but by the past." Patrick Henry is pointing to a powerful principle that provides a lamp for mankind in the midst of murkiness and uncertainty; it is the light that comes through the study of history.
There is another light that shines as well. It is the brightest light of all. It is called the Bible, the word of God. God's word provides an accurate filter or grid to correctly assess history. It will expose the so-called "history" that has been rewritten or revised by the leftist political machine to gain control of our governmental offices, which has led to our cultural corruption. Together, God's word and history act similar to the relationship of the sun and moon. One is the greater light that rules the day and one is the lesser light that rules the night. Both are important, however, if we are going to see clearly enough to secure a future and a hope for America.
Noah Webster considered the Father of American Education concurs. He stated:
The moral principles and precepts contained in the Scriptures ought to form the basis of all of our civil constitutions and laws.... All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.
After citing 87 precedents of Christianity's influence on our founding as a nation, this commentary on the 1892 case, Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States, summarized its ruling:
Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian.
But what does it mean "America is a Christian nation?" Theologian Charles Hodge in 1871 attempted a reasonable answer. He stated:
The proposition that the United States is a Christian nation is not so much the assertion that the great majority of the people are Christians, but that the organic life, the institutions, laws, and official action of the government is in accordance with the principles of Christianity.
Our sixth president, John Quincy Adams, would agree. He stated, "The highest glory of the American Revolution was this; it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity."
Hodges continues:
In the process of time thousands have come who are not Christians. Some are Jews, some are infidels, and some are atheists. All are welcomed; all are admitted to equal rights and privileges. All are allowed to acquire property, and to vote in every election. All are allowed to worship as they please, or not to worship at all... No man is molested for his religion or for his want of religion. No man is required to profess any form of faith or to join any religious association. More than this cannot reasonably be demanded.
More, however, is demanded. The infidel demands the government should be conducted on the principle that Christianity is false. The atheist demands that it should be conducted on the assumption that there is no God... the sufficient answer to all this is that it cannot possibly be done.
Since the 1960s, what was considered "not possible" has not only become possible, it is these prevailing infidel and atheistic premises that now governs America today. The fruit of this foolishness and idolatry is what is responsible for the deconstruction of our nation. Alexis de Tocqueville, French Historian warned against this national suicidal course. He stated, "I sought for the key to the greatness and genius of America...Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great."
Matthew Henry commenting on Isaiah 1:7, 8 stated, "National impiety and immorality bring national desolation." George Mason, Father of the Bill of Rights concurs, "National sins lead to national calamities." Katrina and the recent oil spill are examples of this reality hitting New Orleans, LA, and America.
And what is our national response? Four Governors and one Lieutenant Governor called for prayer and divine intervention to help stop this ecological nightmare in the Gulf. The fact that they are turning to God is good, but what God are they turning to? Bob Riley, the Governor of Alabama encouraged, "individuals to pray on their own or with others, according to their own faith, in an expression of faith and hope." Rick Perry urged, "Texans of all faiths and religious traditions to offer prayers on that day..." Excuse me, but both men claim to be Christians and they dare offer tribute to the pantheon of gods America has erected in direct violation of God's first commandment? Do they truly expect divine intervention to help us? Our response to God in our time of national need is just as idolatrous as the sins that caused His wrath to be poured out upon our heads in the first place.
Let us get back to basics. There is only one true and living God. It is the God of the Holy Bible, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. Our prayers will only be heard on high if we pray to the Father in Jesus name (John 15:16)! But it is exactly that name that America cannot handle, because we cannot handle the truth, which at least in our history, was the source of our freedom.
You can mention any God, except Jesus and why is that? Because He is the only God there is and every other religion is false, idolatrous, and a robber of men's souls. It is these various issues our govermental, church, and cultural leaders will not touch with a ten foot pole. Until they do, we can only expect more national disasters to strike America. It is getting to the point that the same warning Jesus gave Israel will become relevant to America today, "For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord (Matthew 23:39)."
Based upon these Biblical and historical truths, the call2fall can be summed up in the words of Jesus, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you (Matthew 17:17)?" Notice Jesus equates faithlessness with perversion. America has betrayed the Christian faith that founded her and bloodlust consumes the land. Bottom line, remove the knowledge of God from the public life of your nation and violence and perversion will always replace Him. Let us pray to the Father in Jesus name!
