Dear Cindy,
Just read the article about abortion opponent (pro-life believer) Rusty Thomas. In 1994, I was heading down a dark path, working in the abortion industry as a clinic administrator. I have seen it all. I called on one of the sidewalk counselors and began to talk to them. I used to try to hit them with my car, but suddenly, I was being drawn to them. I didn't understand, because I was not a Christian.
I was a 22 yr old nurse, who was an IV drug user and a lesbian. Rusty Thomas and his "gang" helped me through the worst of it. They wanted nothing in return. But just listening to them daily when I was in that clinic gave me hope. I began to walk patients out the door, eventually bankrupting the clinic, which was once one of the largest late-term abortion clinic in Dallas. I am working on a book, "Meet HIM at a Fence" and have been for years. It may never be published, but I can at least always remember what a miracle this group was for me. Anytime you want an interview, I am yours!
Rusty was right about you! What His group/family is doing is courageous. They are saving more than the babies lives..They saved mine, my families and countless others just by willing to stand there and be Jesus to people who needed to meet HIM. I am married to a wonderful man and have a 13 year old daughter, so I have more to be thankful about than ever.
Thank you for the non-bias in the article. Some groups want to shout their causes and entitlement to "freedom of speech" even though it may be hate. That is not what Elijah Ministries is all about. They are spreading their message of love, not hate..of good news not fear, and of real hope, not just change without merit. I am privileged to have known them for so long, and I yearn to be where they are, working on the frontline's, at the very gates of Hell. I know, I once held the keys to that hell.
God Bless!

A faithful sidewalk counselor, Miss Carolyn Knowles, just sent this to me. To those who wonder if going to the abortion mill bears any good fruit, receive this blessing from the Lord. Sometimes it is not until years later do we realize how the Lord uses our efforts in His service.
Dear Rusty,
Just a few days ago I had a message on my answering machine. It was from someone I had written a note to seven years ago. She and her two children recently moved to Waco from Hillsboro. The boy is eight years old and the girl is six.
The note was dated 2002 and she left the abortion mill instead of aborting the girl. All three went to church with me Sunday. Can you believe she kept the note I wrote seven years?
In His love,
Carolyn Knowles
