Erroneous political/economic philosophies, such as socialism, combined with greedy mismanagement, financial cronyism and foreign manipulations reveal some of the sources of our economic woe. Unfortunately, these are merely symptoms that scratch the surface. They do not reach entirely to the root of America’s burdensome debt.

Whether we believe it or not, America is sliding into perdition and our economy is plummeting with it. Yes, there is a direct connection between our national sins, immoral state and the burden of debt crushing our nation’s future.

Of course, the “powers that be,” who refuse to make the correlation, keep pushing the same failed policies that led America to our current moral and economic bankruptcy. As I write, our new president and his administration are seeking to bail out more American corporations and pass a “stimulus” package. In reality, the so-called “stimulus” is nothing more than a spending bill, which increases pork to payoff Obama’s campaign pledges and establish his socialist agenda.

In addition, we must not forget the Democrat’s elixir for all our ills—higher taxation. If successful, these ill-advised actions will practically run America’s economic engine into the ground. Their way of thinking resembles a drug addict purposely overdosing in the hopes of becoming sober! According to their policies, the way to get out of debt is by creating more debt. Except this time, it will come with increased governmental strings, which inevitably lead to governmental chains. The federal government has become a beast hungry to expand its power and control more of the private sector.

Simultaneously, President Obama advocates the root cause of our financial woe, namely the abortion industry and the homosexual agenda. 2 Peter 2:19 describes Obama’s political agenda, “While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.” The following information comes straight from President Barack Obama’s civil rights agenda page:

Support for the LGBT Community

While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect. -- Barack Obama, June 1, 2007

• Expand Hate Crimes Statutes: In 2004, crimes against LGBT Americans constituted the third-highest category of hate crime reported and made up more than 15 percent of such crimes. President Obama cosponsored legislation that would expand federal jurisdiction to include violent hate crimes perpetrated because of race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or physical disability. As a state senator, President Obama passed tough legislation that made hate crimes and conspiracy to commit them against the law.
• Fight Workplace Discrimination: President Obama supports the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and believes that our anti-discrimination employment laws should be expanded to include sexual orientation and gender identity. While an increasing number of employers have extended benefits to their employees' domestic partners, discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace occurs with no federal legal remedy. The President also sponsored legislation in the Illinois State Senate that would ban employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
• Support Full Civil Unions and Federal Rights for LGBT Couples: President Obama supports full civil unions that give same-sex couples legal rights and privileges equal to those of married couples. Obama also believes we need to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and enact legislation that would ensure that the 1,100+ federal legal rights and benefits currently provided on the basis of marital status are extended to same-sex couples in civil unions and other legally-recognized unions. These rights and benefits include the right to assist a loved one in times of emergency, the right to equal health insurance and other employment benefits, and property rights.
• Oppose a Constitutional Ban on Same-Sex Marriage: President Obama voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2006 which would have defined marriage as between a man and a woman and prevented judicial extension of marriage-like rights to same-sex or other unmarried couples.
• Repeal Don't Ask-Don't Tell: President Obama agrees with former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff John Shalikashvili and other military experts that we need to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. The key test for military service should be patriotism, a sense of duty, and a willingness to serve. Discrimination should be prohibited. The U.S. government has spent millions of dollars replacing troops kicked out of the military because of their sexual orientation. Additionally, more than 300 language experts have been fired under this policy, including more than 50 who are fluent in Arabic. The President will work with military leaders to repeal the current policy and ensure it helps accomplish our national defense goals.
• Expand Adoption Rights: President Obama believes that we must ensure adoption rights for all couples and individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation. He thinks that a child will benefit from a healthy and loving home, whether the parents are gay or not.
• Promote AIDS Prevention: In the first year of his presidency, President Obama will develop and begin to implement a comprehensive national HIV/AIDS strategy that includes all federal agencies. The strategy will be designed to reduce HIV infections, increase access to care and reduce HIV-related health disparities. The President will support common sense approaches including age-appropriate sex education that includes information about contraception, combating infection within our prison population through education and contraception, and distributing contraceptives through our public health system. The President also supports lifting the federal ban on needle exchange, which could dramatically reduce rates of infection among drug users. President Obama has also been willing to confront the stigma -- too often tied to homophobia -- that continues to surround HIV/AIDS.
• Empower Women to Prevent HIV/AIDS: In the United States, the percentage of women diagnosed with AIDS has quadrupled over the last 20 years. Today, women account for more than one quarter of all new HIV/AIDS diagnoses. President Obama introduced the Microbicide Development Act, which will accelerate the development of products that empower women in the battle against AIDS. Microbicides are a class of products currently under development that women apply topically to prevent transmission of HIV and other infections.

Obviously, he does not even try to mask his radical support for this abominable lifestyle, which Biblically means the burning out of man. Romans 1:26-28 states, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” He is also committed to expanding the culture of death. President Obama has promised to pass FOCA, the Freedom of Choice Act and grant “bail out” money to the abortion industry. FOCA will remove every Pro-life restriction and enshrine abortion-on-demand into American law. Though there are other evils provoking the holiness of God, it is these two abominations, which have reached heaven and invoked the curse of God upon our land. One example of God’s sanctions, is America has gone from a lending nation to a debtor nation. We used to be the head, but are swiftly moving to becoming the tail amongst the nations of the earth. It appears that we are determined to go the way of every other nation that dared shake their perverted, bloody fist in the face of a Holy God. God’s word warns, “But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee…The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed always…Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it. Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them…The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high (illegal immigration); and thou shalt come down very low. He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail…Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies (Islam) which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee (Deuteronomy 28).” Socialism takes the curse of God and enshrines it into a political, economic ideology. It seeks to give the economic slave addicted to big government all the advantages of security, coupled with the illusion of freedom. In the process, however, socialism destroys both the free producers and the economic slaves. America now sits in awkward amazement as the productive are punished, while the lazy are rewarded. The innocent are condemned, while the guilty are promoted. We pay this high price when moral wrongs become civil rights. These are the severe consequences America reaps as we call good, evil and evil, good (Isaiah 5:20). Our Founding Fathers would be horrified by our current state of affairs, both morally and economically. James Madison, our fourth President stated, “I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.” Thomas Jefferson warned, “A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take away everything you have.” Col. Davy Crockett while in the House of Representatives dealt with governmental welfare head on. A bill was taken up to appropriate money for the benefit of a widow of a distinguished naval officer. Several beautiful speeches were made in its support. The Speaker was just about to put the question to a vote when Crockett arose: Mr. Speaker--I have as much respect for the memory of the deceased, and as much sympathy for the sufferings of the living, if suffering there be, as any man in this House, but we must not permit our respect for the dead or our sympathy for a part of the living to lead us into an act of injustice to the balance of the living. I will not go into an argument to prove that Congress has not the power to appropriate this money as an act of charity. Every member upon this floor knows it. We have the right, as individuals, to give away as much of our own money as we please in charity; but as members of Congress we have no right so to appropriate a dollar of the public money. Some eloquent appeals have been made to us upon the ground that it is a debt due the deceased. Mr. Speaker, the deceased lived long after the close of the war; he was in office to the day of his death, and I have never heard that the government was in arrears to him. Every man in this House knows it is not a debt. We cannot, without the grossest corruption, appropriate this money as the payment of a debt. We have not the semblance of authority to appropriate it as charity. Mr. Speaker, I have said we have the right to give as much money of our own as we please. I am the poorest man on this floor. I cannot vote for this bill, but I will give one week's pay to the object, and if every member of Congress will do the same, it will amount to more than the bill asks. Walter E. Williams, Economic Professor at Georgetown University agrees with Col. Crockett. He sums up the evil of socialism by stating, “It employs evil means, coercion or taking the property of one person, to accomplish good ends, helping one's fellow man. Helping one's fellow man in need, by reaching into one's own pockets, is a laudable and praiseworthy goal. Doing the same through coercion and reaching into another's pockets has no redeeming features and is worthy of condemnation.” It is this critical distinction, which separates Biblical charity from Marxist liberation theology and government sponsored welfare. Acts 2:44, 45 states, “And all that believed were together, and had all things common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.” Those intent on promoting liberation theology and a socialist agenda love to take Scripture and twist it to justify their false ideology. Notice in this passage of Scripture, however, the absence of civil government. No state bureaucrat is putting a gun to the head of the early church and forcing them to provide for the needs of others. Biblical charity is based upon volunteerism and proceeds from the love of God working through His church to meet the needs of the poor, disenfranchised, and outcasts of society. Thus, the glory goes to God and not the deified state. And make no mistake, our federal government has become an idol seeking subservient worship and Barack Obama is its newest cultic head. Jubilee “And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family (Leviticus 25:10).” As way of reminder, this passage of Scripture appears on our Liberty Bell, which still resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Clearly, at one time, America was Biblical in her orientation. We correctly viewed that our source of liberty and prosperity was directly connected to God and his Law/Word. In times past, we understood that God’s blessings hinged on fulfilling the first part of Deuteronomy 28. God’s word promises, “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God (Deuteronomy 28:1, 2).” Besides repenting of violating God’s Law/Word as it pertains to our economic woe, God’s Word also provides a true “economic stimulus.” It is called Jubilee. Since America rejects God and His Word from having any influence in the “real world” of law and government, the chances of our nation implementing God’s answer to our national debt will most likely never materialize, at least, not in this generation of covenant rebels. Having stated this clarification, perhaps another American generation may come back to their moral and economic senses and benefit from God’s Jubilee. C. D. Ginsburg, commenting on its significance stated, “On the close of the great day of Atonement, when the Hebrews realized that they had peace of mind, that their heavenly Father had annulled their sins, and that they had become re-united to Him through his forgiving mercy, every Israelite was called upon to proclaim throughout the land, by nine blasts of the cornet, that he too had given the soil rest, that he had freed every encumbered family estate, and that he had given liberty to every slave, who was now to rejoin his kindred. Inasmuch as God has forgiven his debts, he also is to forgive his debtors.” Our Lord Jesus affirming the Jubilee theme and teaching His disciples to pray proclaimed, “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matthew 6:12-15).” Just imagine America repenting of our abominations and beseeching God to forgive us for murdering His babies and parading our sin like Sodom, followed by our national institutions proclaiming a Jubilee. A national call to set the economic slave free, returning each person to his or her estate, and forgiving the debt of our nation.
