Terminal Generation
 
"For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.  But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death (Proverbs 8:35, 36)."
 
In town halls throughout America, patriots are gathering.  Infused with passion, they are expressing deep concern over Obama's health care proposals.  Evidence has surfaced that America's health system will be morphed into a European, socialistic system that has been "weighed in the balance and found wanting" every where it has been tried.  Horror stories from across the "pond" (Atlantic Ocean) warn America of the serious consequences of adopting rationed health care governed by bureaucrats. 
 
Women are left to birth their babies in toilets or on hospital floors.  Months and years pass before certain treatments are approved.  Lines of injured needing immediate care are left outside hospitals to suffer.  One story concerned a man who broke his ankle and they could not treat him in a timely manner.  Finally, the man broke down in pain and begged the hospital to at least give him some pain medication, which he would pay out of his own pocket.  The government-run health system in England refused his benevolent offer.
 
Besides these health practicalities, Americans are concerned about the economic affects upon our already fragile and strained financial system.  If this plan is passed, Americans can expect trillions of more debt to be added to our children and grandchildren's future.  Moreover, the average citizen cringes at the prospect that our government will swoop down from on high and capture 1/5th of our economy and with a stroke of the pen transfer this wealth from the private sector to the federal government.  Obama already has his hands on the auto industry, financial institutions, and other private sector businesses.  Will he add to his socialistic trophy case America's health care system as well?  Only time will tell.
 
Another alarm for Christian pro-lifers is Obama's plan to include tax-payer funded abortions in the health care proposal.  To those who fear God in this nation, this may be the "straw the breaks the camel's back."  It will create of crisis of conscious unseen in our nation in quite some time.  How can Christians pay increased taxes, when they know it will be used to murder babies made in the image of God?  To force people to pay for the slaughter of their neighbor is an outrageous act of governmental tyranny.  The pro-aborts, themselves, violate their own fallacious doctrine of "pro-choice" by demanding blood money from people who are repulsed by this vicious act of wanton killing.   Thomas Jefferson stated, "To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."  Our Founding Fathers would be turning over in their graves to think the federal government would use the taxes of hard working Americans to kill their fellow citizens. 
 
Unfortunately, the killing would not end there.  Hints of death panels with imposed end-of-life death counseling and veteran's death book allegations are consistently surfacing.  The operative word in all these indictments against "Obama care" is death.  There is nothing new under the sun.  The same forces of darkness and humanistic mentality that produced the Roe vs. Wade generation are now fueling the current debate.
 
At this point, it may be prudent to remind the reader that through the evil practice of abortion, our nation cheapened life at the beginning of human existence.  Should we now be shocked to discover America would cheapen life at the end of the human spectrum?  For decades, leaders of the pro-life movement warned of these days.  This is the slippery slope gaining momentum.  America has sown bloodshed in the womb and disregarded the lives of babies for decades.  We are now reaping the tragic consequences of violating God's law and our national covenant, which established the right to life as an unalienable right.  The survivors of the Roe vs. Wade generation are formulating a plan to deal the Baby Boomer generation.  They will merely take the same rationale (every child, a wanted child) that wiped out 1/3rd of their generation and apply it to the "Terminal Generation" (every senior, a wanted senior).   
 
How can we expect a generation reared upon the philosophy of utilitarianism to do otherwise?  The Roe vs. Wade generation was taught the value of human life was determined by dollars and cents and based upon the "choice" of other human beings.  If deemed worthy and affordable, you were allowed to live.  If not, you must die to ease the burden of others.  In pursuing this tragic course, America exchanged the truth, which established the sacredness of life ethic for a lie, which promotes a new ethic, euphemistically known as "quality of life."  According to this latter view, human life has no intrinsic value.  It is one's usefulness that determines one's value.  Once your usefulness ceases, however, it is time to "pull the plug on granny."
 
A few years back, I wrote a letter to a city in Texas.  Planned Parenthood decided to extend their "services" to this community.  Part of the letter centered on this battle of worldviews, which competes for the proper value to be placed upon human life.  I wrote, "One worldview holds that human life is sacred.  Man is made in the image of God and therefore has inherent worth and dignity.  Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, died and rose again from the dead for lost humanity.  Human beings, therefore, have tremendous inherent value as a creature in the mind and plan of Almighty God.  Jesus stated, "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul (Matthew 16:26)?"  According to Jesus, all the accumulative wealth in the entire world pales in comparison to just one human soul.
 
Planned Parenthood has cheapened this godly value to the point of reducing babies in the womb to rubbish that can be 'legally' discarded with the evening trash.  Their humanistic philosophy is known as 'quality of life.'  According to this view, human life is based upon its utilitarian considerations.  Man only has value if wanted, productive, does not add pain or require sacrifice from the rest of mankind to support their lives.  Their usefulness is the key to their survival.  (Remember the slogan in the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, 'Work makes you free')?  Thus, if babies are inconvenient to their parents and society, under Planned Parenthood's management, they are to be considered expendable and subsequently eliminated.  As you study Margaret Sanger's life, the infamous founder of Planned Parenthood, you will see this deadly, selfish, greedy, and lustful view proudly presented by this queen of death.
 
My friends, ideas have consequences and belief systems lead mankind somewhere.  One view leads to love as defined by Jesus Christ, which is, laying our lives down to help, serve, and save others.  It is a true love that gives at the expense of self.  It is a love that inspires the strong to help the weak.  The other view is rooted in lust, which takes at the expense of others to satisfy self.  It inspires the strong to victimize the weak and destroy them if they get in the way of our selfish pursuits."
 
In this short article, I've attempted to address this health care debate from a practical, economic, philosophical, and theological perspective.  No matter how you slice and dice it, the Obama health care plan is a disaster waiting to happen.  If this "toothpaste" ever leaves the tube, America will be hard pressed to try and put it back again.  The damage will be done and it is doubtful that our nation will recover any time soon.
 
If or when it is passed, I see only three possible responses for liberty-loving Americans.  Others may see more or none at all.  They are tax revolt, pray for a lower magistrate to rise up and resist this federal tyranny, (It seems to me that our Founding Fathers would have already marched upon Washington DC and charged these politicians who are drunk with power and other people's money with treason.) or for individual states to secede from the Union.  States longing to remain free can unplug from the federal matrix and choose to stop feeding the monster that is devouring our liberty.  Of course, they will also need to be prepared to defend their actions.  Either way, the road ahead could be marked with much difficulty, sacrifice, and pain, if our federal government goes through with this Communistic madness.
 
Patrick Henry in his time of threatened tyranny clearly stated, "Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"  The biblical counterpart is found in the book of Joshua.  God's general stated, "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15)."  May we, their spiritual and national heirs, adopt their same stand and may the same Lord who carried them through their hour of national strife be with us as He was with them in Jesus' Holy Name!
